Computer Vision Research Scientist

Meta Reality Labs brings together an R&D team of researchers, developers, and engineers with the shared goal of developing the next generation of XR experiences across the spectrum. Our Research team explores, develops, publishes, and delivers novel and cutting-edge technologies for creating photorealistic 3D and 4D worlds from large-scale and heterogeneous data sources. Our team is addressing a variety of technical challenges including generative world foundation model development, static and dynamic reconstruction using radiance fields, semantic scene understanding, and related domains. We're looking for candidates who share a passion for exploring and solving complex, challenging problems at the intersection of generative modeling and photorealistic 3D/4D reconstruction. The ideal candidate has an exceptional, proven track record in 3D generative model development and is an outstanding software engineer who can prototype and verify novel algorithms. The aim of this role is to develop and advance state of the art research in 3D/4D Generative AI technologies.
Computer Vision Research Scientist Responsibilities
  • Research and develop novel computer vision models in Generative AI, with a focus on photorealistic 3D/4D scene generation
  • Publish research results at top-tier international conferences
  • Collaborate with team members throughout the lifetime of a project, from early research through prototyping
  • Develop research that can be applied to Meta’s VR/AR product development
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in the field of computer vision, machine learning, robotics, or equivalent
  • Work experience in a faculty, industry, or government research position with primary emphasis on AI research
  • Background in generative AI, 3D computer vision, video, and image generation
  • Experience designing generative machine learning algorithms, including data curation, large-scale training, and inference of novel ML architectures
  • Experience working in cross functional collaborations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experienced in advanced geometric computer vision, computational imaging, large scale numerical optimization, state estimation, and sensor fusion.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Broad understanding of the full machine vision pipeline from sensors to high-level algorithms
